A service for medium and small voluntary organisations:

Full review of governance arrangements to ensure that they are in line with legislative requirements and fit for purpose

  • Presentation of findings to Directors/Trustees, with analysis of gaps and weaknesses
  • Objective setting for improvement
  • Review of progress

This process takes between 2 and 6 months depending on the size of the organisation and the intensity of review.

Strategic review:

A service to assist small and medium sized enterprises with business planning:

Full review of governance arrangements to ensure that they are in line with legislative requirements and fit for purpose

  • Review of operating environment and the organisations place within it
  • Review of opportunities and potential threats in next three to five years
  • Workshop-style consultation to determine key ambitions of organisation
  • Assistance in drafting strategy
  • Guidance on implementation and monitoring of progress

This is a modular service and clients can choose the modules that they will find most helpful. Timing will depend on the modules chosen and the needs of the organisation.

Guidance on leadership:

A service primarily for newer senior managers or those seeking some refreshment in leadership style.

Guidance can take the form of:

  • mentoring, a combination of face to face discussion, workplace exercises and telephone support
  • placements alongside the mentee for a defined period (3-6 months) one or two days per week

The objectives are to assist the leader in achieving their confident, competent best. This has an inevitable positive effect on corporate performance.

Strategic human resources guidance:

This is a service for smaller organisations whose human resources staff are fully occupied with procedural/routine matters.

Innovative and robust strategic HR can give substantial business advantages to organisations at an affordable cost. This service comprises the following elements:

  • Identification of desired business advantage from strategic HR development
  • Drafting objectives and policy guidance for directors, managers and HR staff
  • Guidance on implementation
  • Monitoring of progress against objectives

Cultural review:

This unique service concentrates on understanding corporate culture and finding ways to change and improve it. The process is as follows:

  • Identifying the key cultural issues to examine
  • Constructing questionnaires and register of respondents across the organization
  • Delivering questionnaires and analysing content
  • Making recommendations for change
  • Constructing plans for change management
  • Guidance on implementation and monitoring of progress

Project management of new developments:

Overseeing the development of a new project can often take managers away from essential other work. This service, at daily or one-off fees covers:

  • Recruitment of staff
  • Negotiation of detail with commissioners
  • Commissioning of buildings
  • Induction programmes
  • Drawing up and implementing publicity and awareness plans

Increasingly, the development of new contracted services includes TUPE transfers. Within this service such transfers will be managed smoothly for both the transferring organisation and the staff involved.

Other services:

  • Review and reform of management structures
  • Investigation of serious incidents and apparent serious disciplinary breaches
  • Negotiation with commissioners and/or providers of social are services
  • Tender writing
  • Panel member for commissioning of specialist substance misuse services
  • Interim Directorships (on a part time basis)

Fair terms of business:

1. First meeting to discuss assignments is free

2. Charges are made either on a per diem basis (minimum half day) or on a fixed fee for an assignment

3. Per diem rates are fixed at the commencement of the assignment and are maintained for the length of the assignment or for eighteen months, whichever is the sooner

4. Use of any associates or other staff will be declared and charged at an agreed lesser per diem rate

5. Reports of improvement work or developments provided to regulators and/or commissioners free of charge where requested by client.
